We're creating a new village shop, located in a building that has been constructed by Thakeham for the benefit of the local community.
The shop will be managed by us - the local residents, and run by the community for the benefit of the community.
Become a member and help us create a special shop at Woodgate.
Community shares are a method of raising finance used by communities across the country to save or create businesses that are important to local people. They are a form of withdrawable, non-transferable share capital uniquely available to co-operative and community benefit societies.
Shares allow open, accessible membership of the society on a one member, one vote basis – no matter how much you invest, you have the same voting rights as other members, creating a truly democratic business model.
While the initial costs of building have been covered, there are a number of overheads and other costs to cover.
We want to provide an opportunity for local people and organisations to contribute towards a community shop - for a social dividend.
Buying shares will help us staff and stock the shop with daily staples and local goods.
We're a registered society for the benefit of the Community. Buying shares are a long term investment that entitle you to a vote in our annual general meeting.
You can buy shares from £10 up to a maximum value of £5,000.
Get your daily staples like milk and bread.
Reduce car journeys to supermarkets and shops.
Reduce food miles by supporting local producers.
Another great place to meet neighbours and friends.
